Vaccines

Keep them safe

Vaccines help protect your dog from contracting harmful diseases and becoming severely ill. It is vital your puppy receives a full vaccination course as they are more susceptible to becoming unwell.

We vaccinate against:

  • Distemper – Affects multiple organs causing seizures & lifelong changes to the brain.
  • Parvovirus – This is highly contagious affecting the immune system and destroys the lining of the intestines.
  • Hepatitis – Affects the liver, causing inflammation and organ failure.
  • Leptospirosis – There are 4 strains – we vaccinate against all 4! This is a bacterial infection transmitted through contaminated water.
  • Kennel Cough – Affecting the respiratory system, it is just like a chest infection in humans. It is worth noting that dogs do not need to be in kennels to catch this infection!

Parvovirus is extremely contagious, as such there has been a new vaccine developed to help stop your dog contracting this disease.  It is a 3rd Vaccine given after the primary course and before their first booster – contact the surgery for more information.

It is important your dog keeps up their immunity against these diseases by receiving their annual vaccination.
